General Description of the project

TheCircularLab is the first open innovation center on the circular economy created in Europe. Born in May 2017 in Logroño (La Rioja), it aims to promote the best lines of innovation in the field of packaging and its subsequent recycling.

It studies, conceives, tests and applies in a real environment, and in collaboration with companies, public administrations and citizens, the best practices in all phases of the life cycle of packaging, from its conception to its reintroduction into the consumer cycle through new products.

The circular economy is something that has received more attention in recent years due to increased environmental awareness. For this reason, all the good practices carried out by this company can be adapted to any other company, both nationally and internationally.

Transferability and replicability and contribution in terms as “what can we learn about this good
practice?”

It is precisely the municipalities of La Rioja that act as a testing ground for research into concepts such as the packaging of the future, intelligent waste management in smart cities, responsible consumption and the development of new techniques and processes likely to improve recycling for citizens. Once tested in La Rioja, other communities could also benefit from these projects and realize synergies.
